e_phemerartOn the plus side, I got my Leela costume finished before Halloween.
On the plus side, working on it gave me something at least semi-creative to keep busy with recently.
On the plus side, some of the costume details turned out well.
I like the paint job I did on the raygun.
The eye-mask looks on character and actually is reasonably well designed for visibility.
The boot covers are only so-so, but it took me three trial and error efforts to get a pattern made so they do fit over my running shoes.
The wig styling looks passable (when its on the wigstand anyway).
Ended up styling and reworking a regular costume wig. Am not totally happy with the results. The color is fine, magenta/purple like the hue on the action figure, but the wig fiber/construction was kinda cheap. (You get what you pay for) Was able to style one medium length wig in an updo and use the second for the ponytail extension; cobbled together, it approximates Leela's style. However, even starting off, the wig base/cap was a little small for an adult and so doesn't fit quite right. I made a spandex wig cap (luckily I had some fabric that was a close color match for the wig) to wear underneath and anchor the wig to. Am just going to have to live with spandex cap showing some around the edges. With some fiddling and pinning, I think it will stay on my head.
Yeah, I'll try to get pics. It is servicably Halloweenie, but it ain't no DragonCon prize winner of a costume get-up... *Meh-Shrug*
