FrouFrou's: Pasties and Tasties
Apr. 8th, 2008 08:16 amAnother tangent and recurring theme.
While weeding folders in the clipping file at work yesterday, I found an article on making pulled sugar cake decorations. Very similar to art glass work, only done with boiled sugar. (you can even blow sugar bubbles and globes) If that description isn't enough to get the picture, here's a couple photo examples: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/43/Pulled_sugar_roses.jpg/450px-Pulled_sugar_roses.jpg http://forums.egullet.org/uploads/1119061665/gallery_414_1386_43178.jpg
Yet another kitchen craft I'd love to try. Edible Chihuly art!
I made a yummy and pretty pineapple upside down cake for dinner last night. (blame Alton Brown, Russ and I were watching "Good Eats" the other evening and after several episodes suddenly developed a craving for a dinner of pan fried chicken and pineapple upside down cake.) Was a nice excuse to have company, Tom and Kara, over for dinner as well. :)
This morning I got up with a wild hare idea and just put another cake in the oven. It's an upside down pasties cake, made in my "boob" cake pan. I'm not sure how it will actually turn out, but the idea was too silly not to try--using cherry nipples and pineapple rings to top the mounds of breast cup cake.
And moving from goodies to costume goods:
You know, a set of jeweled costume pasties with the pineapple theme would be cute too. And I was also thinking of making an anatomy set, showing milk glands and inside breast structure.
And I love these overdyed and embellished lingerie pieces as seen on Etsy and Ebay: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5330488
