Guess I better stock up on some form of energy drink/caffiene. I'm going to need to pull several late nights the next couple of weeks if I want to get my Halloween ensemble finished. It's coming along, but more slowly than I wish.

I have the puppet skull carved and the rib cage alterations done (pout---not as effective as I'd hoped, but I just don't have the time, money, tools to fabricate totally from scratch at this point) I'm going to think of it as a "modding project", working with what I have. Have figured out the basic "look" I'm after; so now I need to do the actual "corpsing" of the skeleton, then string the parts together and costume the puppet.

I hope I can create something that wouldn't be out of place here: http://beinart.org/artists/index.php?artistGroup=International+Sculpture
In particular, I've been inspired by these doll artists work: http://strangedolls.net/ and http://www.jessicajoslin.com/jessica/index.html

I really am enamored of Joslin's fantasy sculptures, my puppet may be somewhat like a human version of her creatures. (I am also considering "leafing" the puppet bones for an antiqued metallic look--some interplay between flesh and machine for a steampunk aspect.)

Also need to do a few alterations on my own costume bits. Maybe I'll try to get that done the next couple of evenings and do the papermache work over the weekend when I have a bit more time. Hannah is visiting this weekend, and I have to do a little costuming for her as well.

Accckkkkk...overload....

Rats. I may have to make a choice and back out on volunteering for the haunted house. I just don't know if there is enough time between now and Halloween for that and completing my own projects without stretching myself way too thin. And I think I wanna be selfish and do my own art thing right now.

83) Hamilton, Laurel K. BLOOD NOIR. Berkley Books:2008.

This was actually somewhat better plotted than her last few Anita Blake novels, but they still remain "guilty pleasures" to read.
