Buzzing

Checked my bank account and there was a hefty child support payment deposited today! (I figure, even if he actually paid every month, I could still be collecting back payments on the debt owed for another 5 years or so...) So, Hannah's "bio-dad" (at least she doesn't usually refer to his absent from her life ass as "the-sperm-donor") made it a nice 26th Birthday for her...

I spent $100 on cake books at Books-A-Million. (Had I mentioned, my father fronted me a small "business" loan?) :)

I stopped by Blue Rose Tattoo and was able to snag an appointment with Matt for my daughter's birthday tattoo tomorrow. (damn it--my appt with Greg is still 3 weeks away!) Hannah is getting a cherry blossom branch design on her forearm, designed by Mom here.

Bought 60$ worth of groceries at Krogers, mostly for Hannah's Pokemon cakes. As I noted to the cashier, "Yes, I am aware of the incongruity of the Diet Coke along with ALL the sugar I'm buying"

And my baker/chef/caterer's jacket was in the mail! The color isn't as advertised, it's actually a mauvish dusky rose instead of light pink, but I think that's more "me" anyway! Fits decently unaltered, but with a little tweaking it'll be funky and stylin'

Wild West theme cake

A different kind of Sugar Skull!
Commissioned for the 7th annual Rocket City Fur Meet, a fandom convention held Memorial Day Weekend in Huntsville, AL. This year's convention western theme was "Magnificent 7"; the steer skull cake was a 7-Up flavored pound cake, carved and then covered in marshmallow fondant; the dessert/desert background was made with chocolate buttercream and graham cracker crumbs.

Chocolate batter for my next cake project (JigglyPuff pokemon theme) is in the oven.
