So, maybe things just seem funnier at 1 a.m after five hours of sugar high cake decorating, but I do find this flckr.com pic amusing....

a Blythe-doll with cupcake brains!!!!!! Of course, I'm thinking zombies!!!

I found some other odd art while surfing earlier, but I'll post more later....

I've got to take off in about a half an hour to go deliver cake.

Driving over an hour up into Tennessee, in 90+ degree summer weather, with a four tier (12", 10" 8" and 6" double layer rounds) wedding cake in my car.... Well, actually, I boxed up each tier separately and will assemble it when I get there; I'm HOPING this and some other other precautions mean that I can actually get the cake there without some sort of major disaster.

I don't want to ruin Heather & Hunter's wedding day with a cake wreck...

White sour cream cake with buttercream frosting. Swirly-ques of piped icing design; cascade of non-edible but pretty silk flowers. Pretty much a basic, traditional wedding cake, which is what the couple wanted.

This is the third wedding cake I've ever baked (lol..If you want to count the one I made for Phil and I 10 years ago) and the cake I made for Arianna last September, which was the start of my current bout of interest in cake decorating. This one is by far the largest cake I've made, to serve about 100 and leave the top tier for the newlyweds to save.

Coming up next month: a tattoo cake for the folks at BLUE ROSE (just a gift not a commission), and an order for another kinky theme cake for a party.

YAY! Congratulations to the newlyweds, and Whew! the cake got there without mishap.

Turned out it took nearly two hours to get to the wedding site in Ethridge TN, and part of that was getting lost while driving on narrow winding badly paved country roads in Amish Country. It wasn't just the almost 100 degree (first day of Summer) weather that was making me sweat!

But with a little help from my daughter and her friend Jonie, we got there and the cake got assembled right on time. All things considered, it traveled well! I had to do a few touch ups (for which I'd been smart enough to bring along extra frosting), stack the layers and set the flowers in place.

What do you think? I know, it's not perfect, but not too bad for a beginner's large scale cake, is it? Did I mention or boast that I got paid for it? And I also received lots of compliments on how it looked and tasted; so, definitely, this was a cake success!
