last night
Jun. 28th, 2009 11:24 amHad a good time going to B'ham last night! It was fun, fun, fun.
It was a nice friendly time ridesharing with JJ and Ken; very good to catch up with them both! JJ was quite busy once we got to the club, as he was taking photos. Since Ken's back is still hurting him, he and I snagged a table so he'd be able to sit most of the evening. I got up and danced some; lol--I've figured out that way to get over my awkward hesitancy about getting out on the dance floor is just to think about it as aerobic exercise.
The Burlesque acts, Magic City Sirens, and one of the fire dancers from the troupe Pyro Salto, were great-- I just wish they'd done MORE sets. A good event, as always, for pretty people watching; this month's theme for Sleep When You're Dead (an apt name for the event since we didn't get back to Huntsville til 3:00 am) was Midsummer Night's Dream, so there were a lot of fairy wings on skimpily clad girls. It also made me feel good that Heathra and several of the club regulars came up to say hello and hugs and noted that they'd missed me not attending last month.
Here's a couple quick snaps of me. I changed my outfit around just a bit from what I originally planned, using a shorter black skirt rather than the knee length tan one. (The tan is good for a more daytrip steampunk look; the black seemed better for the evening.) I was able to figure out a way to put up my hair and not have it look too ratty; I may start wearing it that way more to keep it up off my neck and cooler this summer.
This was the first time I'd really worn this corset; it was quite comfortable even cinched tightly. I loved the way it felt and looked. I received lots of compliments on it, so I got to brag and fangirl about it being a Louise Black creation. Darn it, as Ken comments, I didn't get any pics showing the lovely split tailed back of my Damsel in this Dress bodice! But as JJ was kind enough to take a couple other shots with his camera, maybe he'll have something to share with me later.
