library hmmmm....

So, along with our 20+ PCs for public use, we now have 2 Macs. The Macs are for a grant we got, to provide Skype technology for Military families to be able to contact their relatives stationed overseas in the armed services. Sounds all good and noble in theory.

Except, that means that while most social chat programs are banned on most computers in the library, that's the purpose here. And Webcam and audio/phone too. Thus my hmmmm....wonder how long before the general public clues into this availability?

Also, I can't remember the last time I used a Mac; but our department has some remedial training scheduled today.

random odd titles in our collection:
Horsemen of the Esophagus (nonfiction about championship eating competitions; one of this month's book displays is Topic: Strange and Unusual)
Tall Blondes (nonfic about giraffes)
The Nutmeg of the Consolation (fiction, Patrick O'Brian seafaring adventure)
Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove (or most any other novel by Chrisopher Moore)

Visual Oxymoron

Why do I have this strange urge at the moment to make a fondant covered sheetcake shaped like a SCALE (and with the numbers reading my highest "before" weight?)

LOL...something like this:

in POUND CAKE, of course! LOL!

later edit: Tattoo Cake is baked (devil's food chocolate); first bit of icing and decorating done; in the freezer overnight to finish tomorrow morning.

This is my first attempt on what is called a Frozen Buttercream Transfer, a method of transferring designs to a frosted cake. It's kind of like making a buttercream "plaque" to apply to the cake. Think of a coloring book page in frosting, the drawing outlined and filled. I'm sure this one is going to look kind of clunky, as a first attempt--and because my apartment was humid and I didn't get the frosting quite the right consistency. Crossing my fingers that when I turn it over on the cake tomorrow, it doesn't look too bad....

My design is of a traditional tattoo style flash rose and banner, to be placed on a frosted heartshaped cake. Classic, huh? The banner will say "Blue Rose" and the flower is of course blue as well.

And, while I did have a couple of tastes--NO BAKER'S BINGES! :)
