slight change in location
Mar. 9th, 2010 03:09 pmI'm going to be moving from Huntsville to Decatur next month.
I called this morning about an ad in the Decatur paper, and it all just quickly fell into place...feels right.
Smallish but well kept up, 1 bedroom apartment (with washer & drier), located in the historic district of town, a half mile from the library. The landlady is a sweet little (stereotypically white haired and frail) old lady; she was tickled that I worked at the library, as she had also been a previous librarian's landlady and best friend for years.
The rent is cheaper than I'm paying now. Nicer neighborhood. No more commute, and even with buzzing back to Huntsville to visit friends, for events, or up to run trails at Monte Sano, I'll still save gas money and wear and tear on my car.
I asked Sandy, the library director for a big favor and got an advance on my Thursday paycheck so I could put a deposit down on the apartment. It wont be available for move-in til April, but that'll work out best for me anyway (getting out from where I am with 30 days notice, packing, finding a new owner for Ashes)
Yeah, that's the only bit of bad news downer...no pets allowed. :( But it makes so much sense otherwise, and I've been dragging my heels so long about making a move... So, anyone want a lovey if fiesty cat? I AM going to miss that damn cat...
Tomorrow, I'll put in my notice with my current apartment complex, start trying to call on kitty karma, and begin sorting and packing boxes.
