a PLUM of a find: vintage fangirling!
Jul. 27th, 2010 09:57 amStraightening stacks in the reference section this morning, I came across an interesting encyclopedia type book: Hanson, Jillian. FEARLESS WOMEN: Athletes, Explorers, Other Competitors. New York: Raintree, 2000. It contained an entry on Harriet Quimby (1875-1912) an early aviator. Cool enough as is, what really perked me up was the mention that Miss Quimby always wore a PURPLE flight suit!
(And we all know how I feel about adventurous Victorian women and the color purple!)
File this one away in my list of gotta-do-someday steampunk costumes!
