M Rest
T blah & busy
W3.5 mile Delano Park (decent temp run)
Th 2 mile walk
F 23 (a really great long run)
S 3 mile walk
Sn 13 mile run (another really great run)
total for week= 44.5 miles
Monday Rest
Felt fine and strong for the entire distance of my long run on Saturday. For a change of place (and a slightly improved pace), I didn't do trails this time, but I did do hills; my route took me on an out and back from B's house over to 5 Points, and then up Bankhead and just looping through Monte Sano Park. Played at "aid station splurges", getting a coffee energy drink in 5 Pts, another bottle of gatorade at the campground store, and a soda at Hardees on the return (as well as the bottle of Powerade I started with, and dried pineapple slices for snackage) Weather was actually quite pleasant for about 2/3 of the time I was out, then it began to heat up.
Sunday's run was another out and back loop to/from the Indian Creek Greenway. Nature Note:
The best part was when I was running up the dirt road to the nearby subdivision on the hilltop. I was startled in delight when a group of butterflies suddenly lifted off the red clay (they were the same colour as the red mud and had been well camoflaged there!) and flew in a dancing cloud around me. There must have been a couple dozen of them! (according to online research, the most common collective nouns for a group pf butterflies are, like most flying insects, a "swarm" or a "rabble". Personally, I think it should be a "cotillion of butterflies".) :)
