Good grief. It took me forever to even come close to figuring out this year's running mileage totals. I did not do the best job of keeping a complete log (and have gotten especially slack in the last few months). I had to look through both my livejournal and sparkpeople blogs to check numbers. The following are monthly totals that I can actually account for, so if anything I might have run a few more miles here or there that went unrecorded.
2009 total: 1571.5 miles
2010 total as of today: 1806 miles
JAN 136 miles (Mountain Mist 50K attempt)
FEB 126.5 (SF Half Marathon; Black Warrior 50K)
MAR 171 (Delano Park 12 hour: 56 miles; McKay Hollow Madness)
APR 227
MAY 143.5 (Relay for Life:45 miles; Twisted Ankle Marathon)
JUNE 141.5 (Chattanooga Mountain Stage Races)
JULY 121.5
AUG 207
SEPT 232 (Norris Dam 50K)
OCT 136 (Nashville Ultra 50 miler)
NOV 132 (Huntsville Half Marathon; Dizzy 50's 50K; Flying Monkey Marathon)
DEC wk1:21 wk2:11 (so far)
Am running in the Rocket City Marathon tomorrow, but I can't count those 26 miles until I've done them!
121.5 miles was the lowest monthly total during July's summer heat. Looks like, with the exception of my anticipated New Year's Eve doozy of a finish, this cold December will also be fairly low miles. 232 was my highest mileage month in Sept. I ran my first 50K and 50 miler (and then a couple more!), and finished back to back stage races. Wow, I guess I did accomplish some thing major this year; I became an ultra runner!
Maybe next year I'll shoot for a little more consistency? But unless I can get any faster, I doubt I'll see much increase in total miles. I really don't think there is much more time available in my life to spend running that I did this year! I don't want to be totally one dimensional and singularly obsessed.
And, although I do feel I got a decent start on it in 2010 and have gained some muscle and basic strength, I'd like to gym and weight train more regularly. I also like that gym time is something I share with Barry*, just like he supports my interests by crewing at races.
About the only negative...I MUST get a better handle on my eating habits, diet, and weight again. I am not happy that I regained 25 lbs over the past year.
*Besides, how can the gym not be special when that is where B. realized he really truly loved me? His telling of it is that there was one day (months ago now) when I was to meet him at the gym after I got off work. He was already there working out. I came up to him and smiled. And that happy-to-see-you smile did it for him. ;) Isn't that sweet?
