this is Halloween
Oct. 29th, 2011 03:53 pmHaving made Desmond his Halloween costume was a satisfying TREAT, but I was still feeling kind of TRICKED about Halloween this year, as I have to work this weekend and so was missing out on both the Spooktacular 5K Costume Run today and tomorrow afternoon's Zombie Walk as well.
However, all is not lost and I have come up with a few things to do:
No new costumes this time around, but I have enough to work with in my existing collection.
One of my running friends, Dana, caught me on chat and convinced me to go to the local Hash House Harriers Pub Run this evening. I've been thinking about going to a Hash run for a few months now, but just never made it; so, this will be my first. I'll do the run part, but will probably bail on the after event drinking and socializing (since I have to get up early tomorrow to meet Dana again for a longer greenway run).
Am going to costume as a skellyton girl for the hash run.
Am then also going to dress up at work on Monday. Think I've decided to go in my underwear for the day; well actually my Renaissance undergarments. Sort of a "The Empress' New Clothes" joke. With a chemise, corset and hoops, I'll be more than decently covered.
And, since I'm off from work on Wednesday, B and I are going to take a road trip to Birmingham and attend a Day of the Dead festival/performance art event there in the evening. Will wear the sugar skull outfit I made a few years ago. Looking forward to the sights of Dia De Los Muertos art and the sounds of Conjunto accordion music.
btw, B and I cuddled in bed and watched a dvd of PRACTICAL MAGIC last night; it's a light magical realist chick flick not a horror film, (and the Alice Hoffman novel was better) but I like it.
I feel better for finding some halloween holiday cheer (even though I do need to lay off the candy already!)
