fyi: my lovely engagement ring is a citrine set in white gold. I really adore the sparkle in the pillow cut stone. Citrine is the birthstone for November; not my natal month, but now very a very special time! I thought it was interesting that most citrines are actually amethyst (another of my favorite gemstones), which has been heat treated to change color from purple to yellow.

A big THANK YOU to all my longtime friends for wishing me well and holding their tongues about this being my ummmm...5th marriage, and/or reminding me that didn't I say I wasn't going to do this again? Even an old girl is allowed to change her mind, isn't she, when the right guy finally comes along? :)

As romantic and wonderful as B's proposal was, I do admit I had one flash of panic when he went for the ring, wondering if he was going to pull out the chunk of coprolite he'd bought at the rock & gem show! Luckily, he'd also been paying attention that day to what stones and sparklies I found appealing.

No, we haven't set a date yet. Sometime next year.

88) Childress, Mark. GEORGIA BOTTOMS. Little Brown: 2011.

Sassy Southern belle Georgia has a lot of secrets: a rotation of gentleman callers, a mother with a tenuous hold on reality, her son from a forbidden high school romance, and a lucrative (if dodgy) business of selling the folk art quilts passes off as her own creations.

I was glad Georgia owned up to her secrets by the novel's end, but got a bit tired of her self-centered shallowness along the way. Mildly amusing, small town naughtiness, but not in the same league as Childress' Crazy In Alabama.
