Half Full/Not Empty
Feb. 6th, 2012 01:57 pmMy weekend was kind of wacked.
Started off nicely on Friday evening when B. surprised me with dessert from Gigi's Cupcakes. He bought a carrot cake one for me. And I didn't even overeat by indulging this sweet treat for the day! I don't know what they do to their frosting recipe (other than PILE it on the cake), but it is really yummy, too fluffy to decorate with, but tasty goooooood!
Saturday stated off with me waking up on the wrong side of the bed. I woke up from stress dreams and had a hard time shaking them off. Which was unfortunate because B. woke up feeling amourous and I couldn't get my body to respond to the idea. RATS!!! So we started off the day both being a little sulky and snappish at one another, but soon kissed and made up. I felt better after getting out for a 6.5 mile run (before it started to rain) around UAH, and also managed a gym session (another mile on the Arc trainer and weights) in the afternoon. Enjoyed a long hot shower at the gym. (Had I mentioned that the hot water at B's house is not working again? Not being able to shower at home is a drag, but should be useful as a way motivate me to get over to the gym!)
After an early Saturday dinner at Bandito, I curled up in bed and watched one of my favorite movies with B., Wim Wenders UNTIL THE END OF THE WORLD. B. didn't like it. :( I have yet to choose a movie for us to watch together that B. has liked---it's a relationship goal! After movie watching, we were able to make up for our false start in the morning and take advantage of being in bed together. :)
Anyway, one of my favorite lines in End of the World is 'You can't be upset about having stolen money stolen." And likewise, "You can't be uspset having to choose between doing two things when you enjoy doing them both." But I still gave myself a full blown anxiety attack (and accompanying sugar binge episode) on Sunday deciding between spending the day crafting or going out for a multi-hours long run.
So, no long run for me this week, and trying not to feel guilty about it (but didn't escape the depressive undertoad). Still, I got in some exercise on 5 days this week, to the gym twice, and 22 miles total.
However, as I reminded myself, I had said this month's emphasis was going to be on craftwork first, and I did spend 10 hours crafting on Sunday! My major accomplishment for the day was a three dimentsional needle sculpted face for my "heart doll". I also created a couple mutant doll faces as well, along the way of trial and error learning. I mucked up the head on the doll as I had originally sewn it, so had to resew/replace the head front and try again. I used a different fabric, so it looks sort of like the figure is wearing a mask, which actually works with adding another layer of quirkiness to the overall design! And I also got the form for her Gibson Girl hair style formed and tacked into place, which will be beaded over.
btw: also got a couple more moving boxes unpacked.
My cat, Josette, was very helpful while I was sewing....at least she thought she was!
B. was able to watch the Super Bowl without interference becaue I was sewing in the other room.
Got up this morning and was able to knock out a pattern for a (cardboard fabric covered) "fainting couch" sized for the heart doll. Should be a very nice finishing touch and make displaying her easier.
