a nice day overall and the squirrel story
Oct. 27th, 2014 01:53 pmThe kids came down from Tennessee to visit yesterday. We met for lunch at Bandito Burrito and then went back to the house and enjoyed the lovely fall day outside in the yard.
Barry and Ken raked up a BIG pile of leaves for Desmond to jump in. He had a blast doing that. He also enjoyed climbing some of the trees.

We also carved pumpkins. It's been several years since I made halloween jack-o-lanterns!

Didn't get any photo ops, but did introduce my new kitten Gaz to the family. Hannah "squeed!" and though he was adorable--except for his "creepy little hands". Desmond, however, didn't want to pet him, declared "He has NO HAIR!", and then went off to find Josette--our other furry cat. :)
Desmond and I also walked around the block. And chased squirrels. Everytime Des saw a squirrel in a yard, he would run after it whooping and hollering. The squirrel would, of course, then vanish up a tree. Then Des would say "Let's keep walking and find him again!" And so we would walk (Desmond pumping his arms and looking very determined)... see another squirrel in another yard and repeat! We got all the way around the block (a half mile circuit) and scared up about a dozen squirrels. I'm sure the squirrels were annoyed, but Grandmama thought it was very cute. :)
It was just good family time. (Even if I did get a little sad later on in the evening thinking about my own mother and missing her.)
