Day Off and I was On it
May. 19th, 2016 10:32 amI had a relatively productive day off. I accomplished:
Finishing up the props and accessories for Cherry Cordial. I like the over the top hair fasinator a lot; I just hope I can use it with the still-to-arrive wig. I'm wondering if the pink flowers will read as too close a shade to the red wig. If so, I have other options I can try for the hair style decoration or redo a similar piece with white orchids that match the parasol. Need to practice holding the parasol and still having "pretty hands".

I also got my revised pageant bio sent off; took the advice of friends here and combined the realme & persona bios into one introduction.. Here's what I went with: Describing herself as a "shy exhibitionist", Cherry Cordial is both shaken and stirred to be fulfilling her pin-up girl dreams. During the days, our plucky gal works slinging books as a library assistant. She adores Retro style and fashion, and after hours enjoys a refreshing mix of hobbies, such as crafting, as well as collecting vintage jewelry and antique swizzle sticks. She tells a tale of acquiring her many tattoos, and a taste for Tiki rum drinks served in pineapples, while shipwrecked (or was it vacationing?) in the South Pacific. She's as tart as a wedge of lime, and sweet as a pink sugared rim. Cherry's personal motto is: "it's not a drink if it doesn't have an umbrella in it." What can we say, but..."Bottoms up!” Miss Cherry Cordial!
Laura brought Cherry's dress over for me to try on again, still needs to have the skirt hemmed the right length for my short legs and the bodice slightly adjusted, but almost there! Laura's been a peach working with me on this.
Also got the fourth applique quilt border cut out and basted to the background fabric. I'm glad it's the last one, I'm running out of steam on the hand stitching.
Did some more clean up on the living room. Trying to feel good about what I got done and not focus on how much I could still do; will give it a bit more attention before I consider this task "done".
Recreationally, I watched two dvd movies. A nice little indy flick, called East-side Sushi about a young Latino woman i Oakland CA who wants to become a sushi chef. And Oscar winner The Revenant, which I wasn't overly impressed with and found too violent for my tastes.
