frustrated
Dec. 11th, 2016 11:00 amI still can't find my watercolor pencils. And this was even after spending an hour or so searching for them in the spare room this morning and picking up things there (not that you can really tell I did any cleaning up - which is one of the things i am frustrated about.) I wonder if i took them in to work for any reason and left them there? May go over to Michaels this afternoon and see what they have in stock if anything. One way or another am going to need them before I can do any doll or sloth features. Guess I could go back to working on Paisley or starting on another doll body, but I really wanted to get the sloth finished up. :(
While straightening up, I did find an old Teletubbies doll I'd saved--actuallly the face looks rather like I'd like the sloth guy to look. I may make, someday, a second sloth where I sew the vinyl face onto the head and do a face repaint for sloth version 2. Oh, and also do still have my stash of redheleed (sockmonkey) socks for whenever i get around to making my monkey-girl for my sideshow set; kind of a pun to make her body from those socks.
Went to Michaels, and they did have some watercolour pencils, but in large sets for 92$! and I didn't want to spend that much. Will look first in my cabinet at work (cross my fingers) and then at Hobby Lobby tomorrow. Also will need to replace my micron felt tips as well, as they were in the same box as my pencils.
Did do a little xmas shopping at Barnes & Nobles, bought story books for the boys-- one Christmas story, The Animals' Santa, charmingly illustrated by jan Brett and one new Pete the Cat and the Missing Cupcakes story. I'll be happy when they are a little bit older and I can buy them craft and hobby sets of things to make and do; Desmond already likes Legos. That's all I'm buying for giftermas, and giving their folks some money to put away for a spring visit trip.
Oh, yesterday's mail did bring the Anne Clemmon's "Sentimental Bloke" doll pattern I'd been wating for! It does look cute. Think I may either start doing guy dolls with this one or with the more muscular "Wally" pattern. Both of those seem to have good character possibilities. No, I think what I'm going to do is make the torsos from all three of the patterns I've got (those two, and the antho Victorian cat-man) and see which one I like best as a "guy". Broader shoulders, narrow hips, pecs but not breasts, wider neck; how to make a doll body look more masculine and male.
