2 mile walk (at lunchtime). Was sunny, but cold! Yes, Virginia, there was snow this morning in Alabama.... It looked pretty, but I could have done without it. Just enough to cover the ground, make scraping and defrosting the car windows necessary and the roads slick. There were SEVEN car accidents on the highway between Huntsville and Decatur as I drove into work. My car even fishtailed slightly once on a icy spot.
I'm #1417 (out of 1589) in the Rocket City Marathon. Since I got that decent trail run in yesterday, and my hamstring seems muchly improved, I'm feeling better about being able to do this Dec 12 race. Race officials are going to have a pair of runners "sweeping" the course at a 6 hour finish (13:45/mile) pace; I wonder if I should just settle in with them throughout start to finish? That's just about my usual training pace. Or should I attempt do a Galloway Run/Walk ratio and see how that does for time and energy conservation? Those are my two possible strategies the event, as I do not intend to flat out RACE it.
For my HUNTSVILLE friends, here's a link to the Spectator's Map for the Rocket City Marathon: http://www.runrocketcity.com/images/RCM-spect-flier-MAP.pdf
