98) Carey, Mike & Glenn Fabry. NEIL GAIMAN'S NEVERWHERE. Vertigo/DC Comics: 2007

Quite decent Graphic Novel adaption of NEVERWHERE, originally a BBC television series, then a novel, an audio adaption, single issue comics, a stage play, scripted for a movie, a nice bit of fantasy about London Above and the alternate reality of London Below.

I believe I started with the novel, some years back, and it was my introduction to the writing of Gaiman.

I got this book at the library because I was looking for a copy of CORALINE, but it was already checked out. BTW, movie squee, CORALINE will be out as a stopmotion animated film in February 2009!

MILESTONE!

10 MILE JOG. :)

Wow. Not sure where this came from today, as the furthest continuous jog I'd previously done was just in the 10k/6 mile range. Sunny temperate (47 degree) weather; trails and paths at Point Mallard Park. Just found a good steady pace and kept coasting along enjoying myself.

Library LOL

Patron came in excitedly wanting information about a "local" historic home. The name didn't ring any bells with me, but what do I know...I'm the "new girl"* who doesn't actually live here in Decatur.

I checked our library catalog, and the Decatur and Alabama verticle file clippings...hmmm...strange it's not listed among the commonly toured and cited historic Decatur homes. Patron said she'd found some information on a website; googled that and began to read closely...granted the online article NEVER specified what STATE the Powers Mansion was in, while it did refer several times to family in Alabama, but library internet sleuthing eventually disclosed that this Haunted Mansion is in Decatur Illinois NOT Decatur Alabama.

*yesterday, one of the library board members telephoned the Information Department but then didn't want to talk to me because I am just the "new girl"; I've worked here almost a year and half now....
