Safe Journeys and Good Adventures
Sep. 1st, 2009 09:47 amTo everyone headed out for Dragon*Con (or any other Labor Day event): HAVE A GREAT TIME!! Take lots of pics and report back soon; I need to live vicariously.
I'm doing a 10k (6.2 mile) roadrace Saturday morning up at Monte Sano; I'll be at the back of the pack not fast, but at least it's something fun and a new t-shirt. If I'm feeling perky, I may just make it a long day at the park then and do some trail miles after the race too (or come back to the trails and hills on Sunday or Monday to get my long workout in.) http://www.huntsvilletrackclub.org/HTC_Races/ms10k5k/ms10k5k.htm
This is the first race I've done in a while. Considering a couple more (of various distances) between now and the marathon in November. I enjoy races, but more for the community than the competition. :)
Speaking of trails...I'm going to need another new pair of shoes soon. Noticed my Nikes are wearing out already (soles wearing down and holes in the uppers); guess I have had them almost six months (and 500+ miles) now. I should go over to Fleet Feet and talk to the staff there about what sort of shoes would be best (and affordable) for me. You know..running barefoot would be a heck of a lot cheaper...
