Work in Progress. Weirdness in Process.

LOL..I guess last night's Anti-Fashion Show* at the Flying Monkey, besides being a fun time, was also good inspiration. I have made some real progress on my (froufrou zombie) Halloween costume this morning. :)

Have the basic "stomacher" viscera planned out, both the sewing pattern for the base and the applique designs for a hodgepodge of things-beneath-the-skin: intestinal spill, rib bones, and musculature.

Have the sample trial and error pieces for the guts done (small intestines in pink taffeta; large intestines in lime green satin)

Have the brain segment almost completed; a jaunty, frilly little cap.

*Actually I did just a bit of DIY fashion alteration myself yesterday on what I wore to the event. Took in the silk shibori Japanese Haori coat I had, adding curved side seams and front and back darts so it's more form fitted rather then the traditional straight cut. Wore black leggings under a black slip dress; my black and white underbust corset over that; and then the coat over top, gathering the lower portion to the back, holding in place with my bustle purse. So it was this shabby chic ensemble, with a kind of Victorian/Asian obi bow/bustle back effect. I wore my getas for footwear. Luke, one of my steampunk friends I sat with at the show, got a kick out of the fact that my tabi socks were a pair of athletic socks I have for my split toe Nikes.

Sorry, guys, no pictures of nothing yet. :)

I'm going to take a break and go out for a run (fyi: 4 mile recovery jog yesterday), and then get back to more crafting.
