Uggghhh.....boxes and boxes of federal tax forms are being delivered to the library today. Oh goody, more busy work for me in the new year.

Did have a pleasant time last night at a Yule party Luke hosted for his "crew and extended family". Was nice to do something with friends to mark the solstice. I had to work til nine, but the party was still going strong when I got there; it was worth having a bit of a late night for. Quite a boisterous crowd of the regular irregulars. I missed out on the steampunk santa gift exchange (but did slip Brenna and Sasha Starbuck's gift cards I had for them) but there was talk, food, card games, holiday hugs and general silliness.

Hannah has finished with her first semester of graduate school classes, with an A in Philosophy and a B+ in her Clinical TR class.

She could have gotten an A in both classes if she'd minded her Ps&Qs just a bit more as to proper APA research paper format.....lol...she wants to be prepared for next semster though and ASKED me to buy her a 6th Edition APA style manual for her Christmas present! Whoohoooo, just what every kid wants for Xmas! (But I guess she's not a kid any more.)

I'm a bit perplexed. Hannah mentioned that her supervisor actually gave her Thursday and Friday (Christmas Eve and Christmas Day) off, but she was saying she'd prabably go into work. Maybe it was just the option to take the time off, but if she works she gets holiday pay; or maybe she just really cares about her kids and wants to be there for them. Or maybe Christmas just really isn't that big of deal. Anyway, I'll most likely still go visit her on Saturday/Sunday.

*There's a line in the movie "The World According To Garp," adapted from John Irving's novel of the same name, in which the protagonist Garp explains: "Gradual school is where you go to school and you gradually find out you don't want to go to school anymore." I'm teasing Hannah about her slow-track studies. She's only taking a class or two per semester, as she is also working fulltime; so, she is a very gradual graduate student.

Hey kiddo, I must love you...I'm going to the bookstore on my lunch hour to try to track down your APA manual (instead of going running)!
