Fangirling: Dexter and Michael C. Hall
Jan. 20th, 2010 03:46 pma local LJ friend recently posted some WONDERFUL costume photos: http://glaswegian-took.livejournal.com/46338.html well done; well done! Oh shoot, I think it may be a friends locked post. Anyway, it's her looking sharp as Debra and her bf as Dex!
And then I found out, while checking the DEXTER message boards, that actor Michael C. Hall has recently been treated for cancer. He has Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which is now (thankfully) in remission. He showed up at the recent Golden Globe Awards wearing a skull cap...

Well, my sister decided she needed to stay home right now instead of coming to visit Alabama. However, since she already had an airline voucher that needed to be use-it-or-lose-it used soon, she asked me if I could arrange to visit her!
So, I have airline reservations, and scheduled time off, for a trip to San Francisco Feb. 6-11th!!!
I haven't seen Coleen for over a year, and haven't been to SF in several more years.
I wish it could be a longer visit, but I didn't want to use too many of my too few vacation days in just the second month of the year. Besides, I had to plan around work and race schedules. lol; and I did make a real sacrifice as it was, having canceled one of my scheduled tattoo appointments...
So, here's looking forward to a few days of quality twin time. Who knows what we'll be doing in late August on our birthday, but at least we have some time now to be together. :)
So, I'm hoping to get my taxes e-filed tonight after work, so I might atually have my return for traveling money (what isnt already allocated for a new pair of glasses and some of my 50-ink project).
I'm also considering registering for a half marathon that just happens to be being run in San Francsico while I'm there (and, no, I didn't find out about the race til after we'd already made reservation dates.)
And I need to find out if its more cost effective to park my car long term at the airport for five days or to take a cab to & from home to the Huntsville airport...to make my very early morning departure flight.
Hannah baby, don't be too pouty, ok? Your cool Aunt (and your less cool Mom) love you too.

I spent my dinner break this evening tracing various color sqiggly lines all over maps of Monte Sano State Park. Trying to better knock some notion of the Mountain Mist race course into my head.
Someone had asked me "Which park trails will you be running on for the race?" To which I answered, "ALL OF THEM!" That's not too much of an exaggeration.

I was using the TEXT map, the DETAIL map, and the COLOR course map ALL THREE and then plotting it out on the big TOPO map (15 page segments) I'd printed and assembled.
www.briartech.com/msmap.htm
On examination, I see that I have trained on slightly more than 2/3 of the race course; which leaves a third (or about 10 miles) as basically unknown territory. Hope that section is well marked with course flags, and that there is someone else slow (but still faster than me) that I can follow!
Tomorrow I am going to spend a bit more time re-reading any online blog entries I can find about previous year's races and runners' experiences at the Mountain Mist.
Gotta remember to pick me up some some GU, a couple of my favorite Cliff bars and some candied ginger. Oh, and some new socks.
