2.5 and 3.5 mile runs earlier in the week.
14 mile race on Saturday.
6 mile run on Sunday.
measly 26 mile total for the week.
Grumbles because I expect the coming week to be low mileage again too: I'll be busy moving.
Saturday's race was great but HARD. Here's a description of last year's course:
http://www.mckayhollowmadness.com/McKayHollow_2009_course_description.pdf Silly me, I read it before the race and thought the author must be exaggerating some aspects... Once again, there was LOTS of mud, and once again it slowed me down a lot; tripped once but no blood. I'm also way too scaredy-cat timid on the technical portions of the trail, too cautious about picking my way over and around the rocks to be fast. Several creek crossings too.
Got a finisher's tech shirt, a nice blue colour with an ugly monster-snail image on the back. Lol..snails are kind of the logo/mascot for this particular race; even though I felt I was channelling the more elusive North Alabama Mud Sloth...
Had a really nice time chatting with Mona before the race; she introduced me around to some of the other runners she knows. She's my same age, but a bit faster than I am, so I didn't see her again til after the race!
Also, I managed to lose my apartment key off my key ring (getting ready at the start area) and had to spend a half hour or so after the race looking for it amongst dirt, leaves and pineneedles. It really blended in well, but Whew! I found it--good thing, since Kara has my spare and I believe she's been in Atlanta this weekend!
