Tomorrow is the Cotton Row Run 10K!

I won't be wearing my new VFFs to race in yet. I won't even be running much or very fast, but I will be out there to do the distance, have some fun, (and test out my ankle- first event since spraining it).

I hope I have a good time. I was really bummed when I tried a longer training distance a few weeks ago, only to find out my ankle wasn't really recovered enough to be up to it.

On the bright side, my ankle does look almost normal again now. And it is beginning to feel stronger again as well. Still not a 100% though (so, no looking for miracle PRs), but maybe I can at least enjoy myself over six miles of a walk/run.

I did take my first short run in the Fivefingers yesterday. Went out at lunchtime and walked one mile and ran (Ok, jogged slowly) 1 mile. Felt good. Liked how the new shoes felt. Liked that my ankle wasn't hurting too much. Feel fine today too. Maybe, since I have been wearing other minimalist running shoes for a while allready (Newtons, Keans, Adizeros), I won't have too many of the transitional aches and pains of getting used to the "barefoot" running style wearing the Vibrams.

Repeat to self: I will take it nice and slow and gradual over the next few weeks as I rehab my ankle and condition my feet/legs to the VFFs.

Anyway. I am looking forward to tomorrow
