weekend this and that

I made a fair amount of progress on the Aloha quilt over the weekend.. I have completed the center piecing and am now working on the applique borders, Got them all planned out, fabric strips cut, the corner reverse applique blocks sewn, and I have one of the border pieces cut and pinned and just started sewing. it will most likely take me as long to do the applique as it did the piecing, but I enjoy the hand sewing more.

Did my bit for being social and went out with Renee (and her husband) on Saturday. Went to the "Steampunk Pirate" night at Rocket Republic Brewery. I dressed up; didn't get any pictures, but did garner a handful of compliments. The band played kind os a tribal fusion, which is hard to describe but which I liked, (They had an accordion player). And there was a tribal dance troupe too. So, even though I don't drink beer, I had a nice time.
B did a lot of yardwork, mowing the grass and cutting up some major fallen limbs from the big tree in the front yard. He also got his car running better again; it doesn't sound so much like an old rattle trap now. We went out to Farm Burger for dinner on Sunday. I'm still mostly vegetarian, but sometimes a burger tastes good. Had mine with pickles and red onions and a side of sweet potato fries.
