Here's my "Tippi Hedren in THE BIRDS" costume. Just goes to show you don't need to spend 20 hours on a successful costume. All this took was some ebay shopping to get the birds and the wig, and a trip to a couple thrift stores to find a green dress and jacket. Only took me a an hour or so ditzing with attaching the birds to the wig. The dress isn't spot on as a movie reproduction, but it still works. Had intended to do gorey eye-pecked-out makeup for the Zombie walk, but suppose there is always next year. I did wear Tippi out to dinner at Bandito Buritto with B last night; one of the waitresses took my picture, and some little trick or treaters commented "She's got birds on her head, do you think they are real?"

And here is what I wore to work on Halloween, Spookytown novelty print dress and Bride of Frankenstein wig. Sherry, our library director dressed up in a pirate outfit, so I wasn't the only staff member in costume. Was fun seeing the story hour children do their Costume Parade through the library.

No trick or treaters at the house. :(

Starting off today fairly productively. Washed my hair. Worked on painting  the bark portion one of of my bonsia bottle trees (not the best of the bunch, but I'll finish it up anyway.) Need to find/decide which what project i want to work on next. Put away halloween stuff. Wrote this journal entry.

I know, it's mostly repeats of what I'd already posted in FB,  and mostly the people who see it here will have already seen it there, but I think a journal is somehow more substantial than other social media (where posts are soon forgotten and FB doesnt have any good way to retrieve old posts).

Upcoming stuff:  Race volunteering next weekend. (hope I can manage to stay up all night, or at least rouse and wake up when runners come through the aid station)

Then visiting my father a bit later in the month for Thanksgiving, which will be a family trip with Hannah, Ken and the boys (and their dog). Not sure the dog is the best idea, but I can see them not wanting to pay for kenneling.

A bit further out, I've registered for a couple more 50K races. One is at the end of December, the Pistrol Ultra, held near Knoxville TN. I did a 100k there a few years back, but this time around will just be walking the 50k distance to see in the New Year. I appreciate they are a walker friendly event. I also registered for the Burning Man Ultra, whcih isn't until August of 2017,and by which time I hope to be in shape to actually run the distance.

That would be my fist ultra in California, and also my first time attending the Burning Man festival. My sister Coleen has been there several (how many? 4, I think) times, and came back this year convinced that I should go with her in 2017. Have got time to train, and time to save money for the vacation. It would be a great twin adventure. Besides the ultra, I'd love to see all the art that goes with Burning Man. And people like playing dress up there too; I'd probably have to pack concisely and sparingly, but maybe work up one costume to take along.  Still a long way off, but maybe it'll be the carrot on a stick I need to push past and realy get back into running shape. I think that idea might work this time, because not only would it be an expereince of a lifetime, but it's something with my twin sister, and  i wouldn't want to let her down. Sure, its something I'm doing for myself but adding Coleen into the mix makes it more important.
