Food note: the som tam turned out very nicely! It was almost pretty food food porn perfection on my plate. :) I even tried carving a cucumber into lotus blossom garnishes. I guessed just about right on the number of peppers to use; low by most Thai standards, I'm sure, but still noticeably seasoned for me. The sushi was a lovely cool accompaniment. Am saving the dates for a fruit snack/dessert later this evening.
