I've been commissioned to bake and decorate a cake for the Booster party at RCFM in a couple weeks. http://www.rcfm.net/ Since it it the 7th year for this furry con, their theme is a western one: ala the gunslinger movie "Magnificent Seven".

I have been annoying brodycatsmouth by bouncing ideas off of him. ;) But I think we've struck on a plan for the dessert...

A 7-Up flavored carved poundcake in the fondant covered shape of a steer skull, sitting on a cinnamon sugared desert Texas chocolate sheetcake. :) I'm such a concept geek...I love making the flavors fit as part of the theme too! I guess a longhorn skull isnt exactly "furry", but it does provide some sort of animal related link.

Oh man..I think this is going to be a really neat cake! Would it be too ambitious to add cake and fondant cactus?

Or maybe a spun sugar tumbleweed lol!

I was thinking about cacti, as I've seen some really cool looking cactus cakes (that I do want to try someday--ADDED some links to the bottom of the list) ...will have to see how it might work here (scale,compositon,etc) with the skull being the focus.
