this and that

Did have a good birthday. :) Hannah was in fine form...she found a nice birthday card for C, all bright and happy thoughts for a "Cool Aunt"; while my card featured a cartoon buzzard and references to old age and death. LOL; that's my loving daughter!
Birthday dinner at LaHa was only so-so, but I still like going there to look at the (carved folk art)furniture!
Cooked a homestyle comfort food dinner for Hannah on Wednesday; baked speghetti (following my grandmother Meme's family recipe to the letter... including an entire stick of butter in the roux paste!)
Barry, Coleen and I went to a nice concert at the Flying Monkey last night. The local band Kinvara played Celtic music, and the Huntsville Irish dancers performed several numbers with them. I quite enjoyed the fiddle tunes, and was impressed by the fancy stepping. Guess I am an old fogey now; I really did enjoy this concert more than the last couple louder, younger bands I've seen.
M rest day T busy day W 8miles Th 4 miles F 4 miles(planned) S 10-12(planned) Sn 6-8(planned)
Am tapering down for a 50K trail race on Sept. 5. I'm really looking forward to the race, as the last event I did was the Rock/Creek Stage races back in June.
I feel, mileage wise, I'm in a good training place, and I'm fairly happy with my developing muscle tone. (ha- Hannah even said I'm begining to get "Tina Turner legs", but that's a bit too generous a compliment) However, my weight is somewhat higher than I'd like. (at 145ish, I'm again skimming the upper limits of a healthy weight range and bmi.) There hasn't been much fluctuation over the last month or so (and fyi, my periods have tapered off again). My weight seems to have plateaued, but I still feel I need to get serious,"split the difference", and lose 10 lbs to balance out at a good racing/running weight.
Last week's tattoo still has a few rough patches, but is healing well!
