Oatmeal is one of my very favorite comfort foods, cooked with milk, served nice thick and warm. Perhaps further garnished with a TB or so of granola, or sliced fruit. And, if I want to change it up, there is always malt-o-meal or couscous, which makes a nice hot cereal as well.

And I'll admit I have a convenience food fondness for the Quaker Instant flavor with raisins, dates and walnuts. But it wouldn't hurt to try....

I know, I know. "Regular" oatmeal is ,well, just OATS and easy to cook. :) I was flabbergasted by the description of MCD's oatmeal as "oats, sugar, sweetened dried fruit, cream and 11 weird ingredients you would never keep in your kitchen.”

One of the things I did for the longest time was to make oatmeal brule'. I'd take a package of instant oatmeal, top it with an equal amount of granola (whole grain and dried fruit), add boiling water to set the oats. Then after heated, I'd swirl it with honey and either cinnamon and/or nutmeg and put it in the toaster. Yummm
