B was perplexed about my accenting his groom's outfit with a sleeve garter.
Although often regarded today as anachronisms, arm garters have been worn throughout the ages. In the mid-14th century, Knights of the Order of the Garter used the
m as a symbol of honor, chivalry and loyalty. Later, in the late 1900's men's sleeves came in one length: long; so, garters were worn as a practical necessity to adjust the sleeve length. And, of course, there is still the popular wedding tradition of the groom removing the bride's thigh garter, but we left that alone...
LOL; but basically, I just thought B's outfit could use a bit more coordinating bling! :)

And, for posterity and if anyone is interested, here are the vows I said to B in our wedding:

In appreciation of those qualities I am so grateful to have found in a partner, I give you this ring as a gift from my heart. Solid and sturdy; it is a lot like you.
(place ring on B's finger and hold hands)
Barry, I love you for your strength, for your fierce protectiveness and caring, for your brashness and silliness, for your endurance and acceptance of my quirks and faults, for your encouragement and support of my dreams; for all the details and the sum (quantum and otherwise) of how and who we are together. I promise to cherish and respect you, to nurture our relationship with honest communication, and to embrace the life we shall share. Sir, I am yours forever. As your wife, for now and always, I love you.

The way you wove your ownership into your vows gave me shivers. Beautiful.
